“Why?”

One of the most frequent questions parents hear is “Why?” I actually believe a mom probably hears it the most because it’s usually ‘easier’ to ask her or it’s because she’s the one giving instructions. I know I asked and often argued about the why – that and lots of other things, too. I’m so thankful Mom had lots of patience with me!

That question could easily be asked about some things we’re told in Scripture like James 1:2: “Count it all joy when you fall into various trials.” There’s nothing easy about that but trials do produce patience. Sometimes there’s no other option but to wait no matter how long it takes. When we learn to be patient, we mature and become more complete as God works in our lives. Full disclosure: I don’t consider myself to be a patient person; it all depends. I really should work on that but I do trust Him and pray for help / forgiveness when I’m falling short.

So, just as parents can give a good reason when their children ask why, God does as well. And when we know that trials lead to maturity, we can understand how it’s possible to stay positive while we go through them. Trials are just another way God leads us to Christ. To put things in the right perspective, just remember what Jesus patiently endured to save us.

One more very important note – Sunday is Mother’s Day!! If you are blessed to have a loving mother, show her how much you love and appreciate her by giving her your time and something special you did yourself. Here’s something beautiful and creative that Talia made for me last year. It means so much and so do the sweetest cards from Talia and Donnie, my awesome son-in-law. I’m a very happy, thankful Mama!!

Mother’s Day 2019

I’ll share what I’ve created for my precious mom next week. I finished it today but she gets to see it first!

  • It’s always been said that everything happens for a reason. The best example is when I wondered why Donnie and I broke up in high school and how much I thought it was wrong. But, God knew we both needed time to grow and now we’re happily married. Sometimes things work out way better than expected, just may be hard getting there.
