The Finish Line

Well I haven’t written in over a week other than a short post on Facebook. It was “one of those days” so I was asking for a little help. I appreciate the reactions but I REALLY do want to know your thoughts. I would greatly appreciate it if you will submit comments on my website, bellamiya.com, instead of Facebook. Otherwise, I may miss something. It’s such a weird time being isolated and predominately connecting this way. It’s great that we have social media and virtual capability but it’s unfortunate when real connections are brief, distant or missing entirely. I think of COVID 19 as an endurance race we couldn’t train for; and even though “this too shall pass,” I just pray that happens sooner than later!

When I wrote “Family First,” I talked about some good things that resulted from a difficult and scary time. It shouldn’t take drastic situations for us to realize how important people are in our lives despite our differences. We need our families, friends and neighbors and they need us. All of us have to deal with doing what we can in a safe way and often not being able to do what we would like. It’s not easy by a long shot but being afraid or negative only makes the race harder than it already is.

Think of a horse race. Out of the gate, they’re powerful and giving it all they have. Every one of them runs with everything they’ve got. They don’t quit even if the odds are against them. The horses and their jockeys have no fear – only a finish line. Imagine for a minute how that feels. Now save that thought.

None of this is about what I do or what I write; it’s about why I do it. We can be much better, stronger, happier or fulfilled, and better equipped to endure. Don’t stop living just because you are afraid. Worrying only speeds up aging! Pray about whatever is troubling you and let it go. God will absolutely answer the prayers of those who trust Him.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.” Proverbs 3:5

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13

Remember the finish line and replace “I can” with “I will.”

  • There’s a reason I got Philipians 4:13 tattooed. It’s one of my favorites and keeps you going knowing you’re not alone and will be given the strength you need!
