Mother’s Day Weekend

I hope all of you found a special way to celebrate Mother’s day. I am so thankful for the time I had with my family Saturday and Sunday! In my last post I talked about showing love and appreciation by giving your time and something special you created yourself. Well, I was blown away by what I was given!

Talia created the most amazing slideshow with the song, “The Best Day,” by Taylor Swift. She had pictures of us from the very beginning in the hospital, through lots of our favorite times and places together, ones including her grandmothers, all the way to the day she married Donnie. My heart was so full and I had the happiest tears from beginning to end! The best way I can describe what her gift means to me is: every time I open it, it’s like opening a treasure box!! There’s no better gift than times together and the ones made with love.

Bobby did something really special, too. He loves woodworking and he had the idea to make cutting boards for Mom, Talia and me. He planed and joined planks of walnut, maple, purple heart and padauk wood to make three unique boards. He also gave us stands for them because they’re too pretty to not be displayed!

Here’s what I did for Mom. Just to help you understand, when Mom was 33 she wanted to have another baby. At that point in time, my sisters were 10 and 11 years old. I know Nana was hoping for a boy because I found the “guessing game” from the (my) baby shower in Nana’s Bible that I have. I don’t know if Mom and Daddy were hoping for a boy or not but having teenagers and a toddler? What were they thinking?!? All I know is that I had a wonderful childhood, the best family and more nicknames than just “Sunshine.” Only Mom called me that!

I tried to include the slideshow but I need Talia’s help. I don’t want to do anything to mess it up! It will have to be a “coming attraction” for now.

  • A truly amazing Mother’s Day weekend. For me, seeing how overjoyed my wife was made the Holiday that much more special.

  • I know Nana loved her gift as well!! I hope one day I’m as great of a mother as you are!
