Most of us understand we should choose our words carefully as well as our actions; whether or not we do that is another story. Now, the prevailing theme is “political correctness” instead of being morally correct. Well, being part of a certain party or any certain demographic does not make anyone right. I care less about being politically correct and more about morality.
Being resentful and angry is self-destructive. Bringing down monuments, symbols or reminders of history does not change or negate history. It is what it is – it is history – it is in the past. Understand it, learn from it, and be BETTER because of it, NOT HATEFUL. Every day we live, we have an opportunity to do just that. Some of us have trouble getting over “wrongs” and we tend to hold grudges. Been there and done that! All it accomplished for me was bloody knuckles and a shell of a person. That’s not living and realizing blessings – it’s the devil winning the round. I don’t believe anyone really wants that!
In our current state with a pandemic, protests, ongoing political unrest, and more riots / destruction / chaos…Where does it end? I think the only way it can end is through facts and faith. The facts are that multiple ethnic and religious groups have been enslaved and suffered from prejudice: Hebrews, Jews, Irish, Indians, Africans, Asians, Christians… It is sad but true. That does not mean there’s an axe to grind. It means there’s a need for hope. People, including me, are a lot less likely to accept things that are forced. Honestly, any time someone has attempted to force me to do something, it backfires. On the flip side, if I’m approached instead of provoked I’m willing to listen. Listening doesn’t necessarily result in agreeing but it can result in understanding.
Weak leadership that gives in to the public, removes order (i.e. law enforcement) and allows anarchy is not leadership at all. That has got to stop! No understanding, peace or positive result will come from allowing people to act like they are deranged no matter what the excuse is. Instead be strong, moral, lose the stereotypes and strive to live without blame. None of us are perfect but all of us have an opportunity for salvation. We just have to accept it and seek God rather than revenge.
Repay no one evil for evil, but give thought to do what is honorable in the sight of all. If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all. Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.” To the contrary, “if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink; for by so doing you will heap burning coals on his head.” Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
