Throughout our lives we accumulate lots of photos: babies, family portraits, school pictures, weddings, vacations, birthdays, holidays, graduations, etc. The pictures were taken to record events and happy occasions. Albums, scrapbooks and those old envelopes and boxes of photos are treasures! For quite a while now, our photos have been stored on our computers and phones that we use to take pictures. It’s not the same but it’s cool to be able to use your phone (that’s always on you) to snap a picture or record a video to share on Facebook or just send to a friend. I especially like Google photos that come up with memories from a year(s) ago. Talia and I were recently sharing some with each other from our beach trip last year!
What we’re seeing in pictures / media these days is often on the ugly side but we can do something about it. Since I built my website and got started on Facebook, I’ve learned that more people respond to pictures than words alone. We’re very visual creatures! I recall reading something in my daily devotional last year that was about what photos can’t show. The author was talking specifically about selfies – the “look at me!” kind. His point was that your photo doesn’t show what’s in your heart. Only God can see that. That is absolutely true and I do think it’s a little weird to take just pictures of yourself BUT I also think you can tell a fair amount about people through pictures. No, we can’t see what’s in someone’s heart but eyes and expressions definitely tell a story. That and whatever you might be doing in the picture or pictures we like says something about us, too.
All of the images within BellaMiya are part of the story: to make you think, to give you hope, or to make you smile. The more we can do that, the better off we’ll be. You might think someone can’t see if you’re smiling behind the mask but they can! If you’re on the phone, can you ‘hear’ someone smiling? Yes, you can!
Watch your actions, they become your habits. Watch your habits, they become your character. – Vince Lombardi
