This is the day we honor and remember all those who stood, fought and died for the freedom we enjoy in this great country. I know for some, it’s just an excuse for a party or cookout – like any of us really need an excuse. We try to do that most weekends in Spring, Summer and Fall! It’s great to get together with family, friends and neighbors but we would be remiss if we fail to remember the reason we have to celebrate this coming, long weekend.
It’s about complete dedication and sacrifice. I believe most are grateful but unfortunately, some are not. The ones who aren’t have some ill-conceived sense of entitlement or don’t understand that freedom doesn’t come free.
This is sure to be a holiday we won’t forget given our current crisis. It doesn’t have to be negative though. You know one of my reasons for writing is to share faith with anyone needing it. Sometimes it’s to help me ‘get my mind right’. Believe me; I am as frustrated as anyone with the constant COVID-19 news and the “we’re all in this together” slogan. We’re all impacted by it but we are absolutely NOT “together.” There is so much greed, indiscriminate direction, and criticism as if there were a play book to follow! Now that I got that off my chest, I’m thinking about “From Now On” that I published in March. I hope the following quote gives you as much reassurance as it gives me.
“I don’t know what my future holds, but I do know who holds my future.” – Tim Tebow
Love those quotes!!
