Reality Check

Unite the Country, the super PAC backing former vice president Joe Biden, released an ad yesterday blaming President Trump for the coronavirus response. I just saw the ad this morning and was disgusted!

I don’t care, nor am I here to criticize party affiliation. However, judging one man – Our President – for being optimistic is wrong. Hoping to celebrate Easter normally is just that – a hope. There’s nothing wrong with that. Easter is the fulfilled prophecy of the Messiah who would be persecuted, die for our sins, and rise on the third day. (Isaiah 53) Remembering the resurrection of Jesus is a way to renew daily hope that we have victory over sin. There would be no opportunity for salvation without it!

What is grossly wrong here is the motive of “Unite the Country.” The message is divisional NOT unifying and thus, the name is hypocritical! My website is about faith and hope that I have plenty of. Being negative is not a good example of that but, that’s not what I’m doing. I am being critical of something terribly flawed. Think about this: If the ones behind this campaign spent that money to aid in our current crisis, wouldn’t that be a better choice? I’m concerned about homeless people or the ones without access to proper care. What about them? What about the Veterans I’ve talked about before who are homeless or struggling? For God’s sake, are people really that politically driven to turn a blind eye to real needs? That’s obviously a rhetorical question. We have to be better than that.

  • Amen!! I could think of a hundred better ways to spend that kind of money instead of spending it on a commercial just to trash someone.
