My Saving Grace

Back in February 2020, I wrote “For the Love of dogs” after we had adopted Anna from” Saving Grace Animals for Adoption”; I knew when I saw her, I wanted to hold her. When she was in my arms, I knew she was the one for me. I loved her instantly and couldn’t wait to take her home! What I didn’t know is how much I truly needed her. There were times I took her to see Mom and Daddy and she brought so much joy to them. She was gentle with Mom, playful with Daddy and always on her best behavior! When I lost my parents two years later, Anna was there for me. Of course she couldn’t know why I was so sad but she knew I needed her. She gave me unconditional love; loving me for who I am, flaws and all, with no strings attached. And she still does! That’s the beauty of simply loving and being present without words.

When we were packing and getting ready to move last October, Anna wasn’t sure what was going on.  Of course I reassured her over and over and when the time came for us to go, she rode with me. That was a long haul over two days but we made it safely.  We had movers so we were able to get settled fairly quickly and that was really important so Anna could settle in. She really loved her backyard in NC! Well, the backyard here is only about 10 or so feet up from the lake bank and we are in “gator country”! So we didn’t waste any time building a fence!!

We just celebrated her 6th birthday, August 3rd and I love her even more if that’s possible! I talk to her as if she could carry on a conversation with me and although she can’t, she listens and stays close. She is my Anna, my love and my saving grace.

Just another day in paradise…
