I’ve written about “What would Jesus do” but today is a reflection on what He did on Palm Sunday. Fulfilling prophecy. Zechariah 9:9, which says, “See, your king comes to you, gentle and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey”. Donkeys were associated with humility and peace in the ancient world, while horses were linked to war and conquest. By riding a donkey, Jesus was presenting himself as a king who would bring peace. He was greeted by crowds welcoming him by waving palm branches.
On Monday, Jesus cleared the temple and declared it as a house of prayer where He taught. By Wednesday, Judas who was one of the 12 Apostles agreed to betray Jesus for money and the leaders plot to kill Him.
When Friday came, Jesus who was without sin was crucified. He hung on that cross, suffered and died to save us fromthe punishment we deserve. By enduring and defeating dealth sacrificialy, He swung open the gates of Heaven making a way ~ the only way for believers to have their sins forgiven.
Bwtween now and Easter Sunday, I hope we all will consider the sacrifice and realize just how humble we should be.
Pride leads to disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom.
